When ailing singer Red Stovall (Clint Eastwood) gets a chance to perform at the Grand Ol Opry in Nashville, Tennessee, he realizes this could be his last chance to make something of his life. On his way to Tennessee, he visits his sister in Oklahoma and enlists his nephew to drive his aging limousine ... and to help keep him sober until the audition. This film didn’t get much recognition back in the day. But for some reason when I watched it when it was released as a kid it seemed to strike a chord with me and i’m not sure why. It’s always been a favorite of mine to watch and it never bores me.Redd and his Nephew go on a journey from the dust bowl of the mid west to get to the “Grand Ole Oprey” so Redd can achieve his fame before Tuberculosis takes his life. Redd makes it to Memphis but sadly his sickness ruins his opportunity to sing on the Oprey. But his songs end up becoming a hit on the radio and across Honkey Tonks everywhere.
